Paris Rare Book & Experts In Fine Art Fair
3.000 visitors at the opening, a total attendance of 11.000, 160 booksellers and print & drawing dealers, 40 Fine Art experts: Also two members of the Austrian Association of Antiquarian Booksellers took part at the event (24 – 26 September 2021).
As a complement to the Fair, a virtual event, the e-Livres rares, allowed exhibitors who wished to do so to present a selection of documents for increased visibility. As the only international fair in its field in September, the Salon du livre rare thus offered an additional presence for the duration of the fair, aimed at bibliophiles who have been used to digital meetings since the beginning of the health crisis, and in particular at foreign collectors who could not be present in Paris.
While this virtual model is undeniably interesting, nothing can replace a real Fair, which is the only way to ensure a direct meeting between booksellers and collectors, with the benefit of individual discussions and the handling of documents.
This 2021 edition has met another objective, that of attracting a younger, curious and interested audience. The massive distribution of digital invitations and the presence on social networks have made it possible to increase our visibility towards these audiences.
The educational activities developed by the four partner societies of experts made it possible to raise visitors‘ awareness of the decisive role and skills of experts in authenticating objects. We would like to pay tribute to the involvement of these partners, CEA, CNE, CNES and FNEPSA, which have invested in making this part of the Fair a place of discussion and discovery.
And of course we would like to thank our guest of honour, the Cité internationale de la bande dessinée et de l’image, which shared with the public a magnificent selection of its heritage collections and also organised signing sessions with young authors, all within a very successful scenography.
